State Rep. Candidate Kaitlyn Shake Hits Fundraising Goal in 10 Days
The three-term Town Councilwoman and Democratic Party Leader is already making strides just over one week into the campaign.
Yesterday, at a campaign rally and fundraiser, Kaitlyn Shake, a Democratic candidate for State Representative in Stratford’s 120th State House District, announced that she has successfully reached the fundraising goal required to qualify for a one-time grant from the state in record time. This achievement comes after the launch of her campaign on April 18, 2024.
Shake’s campaign is participating in the Citizen’s Election Program (CEP), Connecticut’s public financing program designed to keep big-money interests out of politics. The campaign's donations are limited to $320 per individual, with a threshold for 150 in-district contributors (Stratford residents) and a total amount raised of $5,800. Once these totals are certified by the SEEC, the campaign will qualify for the one-time grant of $36,500 in the summer to fuel the campaign until Tuesday, November 5th.
As of Monday, April 29, 2024, the “ShakeforStateRep2024” campaign has hit its fundraising goal in record time from 187 individual contributors, 159 of whom were from the town of Stratford; 85% of Shake’s financial supporters reside in Stratford. These numbers will officially be reported in the next SEEC filing, due at the end of June.
“Stratford residents have spoken up and backed this campaign with their hard-earned dollars because they trust that we can deliver for our residents, business community, and schools. Now that we have made this exciting milestone in just over a week, my efforts remain focused on tackling our most challenging budget season on the Town Council, a time when we need our State to deliver more than ever,” said Democratic candidate for State Representative Kaitlyn Shake.
Shake announced this formally at a campaign fundraising event on April 28th at Two Roads Brewing Company in Stratford, 2:00 PM EST, in the Barrel Room.
“This campaign is mainly funded by Stratford residents who know we need more from our state leaders, especially as we try to bounce back from a challenging economic climate. The groundswell of Stratford's support for this campaign is living proof that we need leaders in Hartford like Kaitlyn Shake,” added Campaign Manager Kathleen Callahan.

Stratford Councilwoman Kaitlyn Shake Announces Run for State Representative 120th District
The three-term Town Councilwoman and Democratic Party Leader will kick off the campaign with an in-person event on April 28th.
Today, Stratford Town Councilwoman Kaitlyn Shake announced she has filed to run for State Representative in Stratford’s 120th District in the upcoming November General Election this year.
“Stratford residents need a trusted voice in Hartford to get the job done. In my time inside and out of Stratford Council chambers, I have a proven track record of delivering for our residents, business community, and schools. I look forward to meeting with residents of the 120th district and ensuring their needs are heard and included in the next State Budget,” said Democratic candidate for State Representative Kaitlyn Shake.
Now working on her fifth consecutive Stratford Town Budget, and now as Democratic Party Leader, it is clear that Stratford will need strong, trusted State Representatives who can get the work done and work across the aisle at the State to ensure our schools, businesses, and residents can succeed. Shake has done this throughout her career in public service and as a healthcare professional in Fairfield County.
“When other leaders let us down, Kaitlyn Shake delivered,” said Andrea Corcoran, Former Stratford Board of Education Chair. “Our local education board was in financial crisis, and the Councilwoman worked across the aisle to get us out of the red. What worries taxpayers, people in the education system, and the business community is that Stratford residents can’t afford an annual budget crisis. We need a voice in Hartford to ensure our needs are met here on the ground. Kaitlyn Shake is the one to get it done.”
Shake is also participating in the Citizen’s Election Program (CEP), the state’s public financing program designed to keep big-money interests out of politics. The campaign's donations are limited to $320 per individual, with a threshold for 150 in-district contributors (Stratford residents) and a total amount raised of $5,800. Once these criteria are met, the campaign will qualify for the one-time grant of $36,500 to run the campaign until Tuesday, November 5th.
Shake supporters are invited to formally kick off the campaign at a fundraising event on Sunday, April 28th at Two Roads Brewing Company in Stratford at 2:00 PM EST in the Barrel Room.
